Mount Toubkal is 4,167 m, the highest peak in North Africa, and you can climb it in two days. This 2-day Mount Toubkal summit trek starts in Imlil, in the High Atlas about 90 minutes from Marrakech, and follows the classic route with a mountain guide. It is short and it is hard: there is no spare acclimatization day, so it suits hikers who already walk long days and are comfortable with height.
The route
Day one is the walk up the Mizane Valley, through Aremd and past the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch, to the refuge area at around 3,200 m. Day two starts early for the summit, then you come back down to Imlil. Weather, snow and how you feel on the day shape the plan, and the summit is never guaranteed. Your guide makes the final call.
Who it suits
Fit walkers short on time who want the summit without a longer trek. If you have never been above 3,000 m, our 3-day version with an extra day to adjust is the safer choice. Maximum 8 guests per guide.
