This 3-day Sahara desert tour from Marrakech is the short way to sleep in the dunes. You cross the High Atlas to Ait Benhaddou, walk the Todra Gorges, ride a camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset in Merzouga and spend the night in a desert camp. Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech pickup in the morning, then over the Tizi n’Tichka pass to Ait Benhaddou for a walk through the old kasbah. Continue through Ouarzazate to the Dades or Todra area for the night. Drive about 6 to 8 hours with stops.
Day 2: A walk through the Todra Gorges, then on to Merzouga. In the afternoon you ride a camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes as the light turns red. Dinner and a night at the desert camp. Drive about 5 hours.
Day 3: Climb the nearest dune for sunrise, have breakfast at camp and start the drive back to Marrakech with breaks on the way. Expect to arrive in the evening. End of tour.

Included: transport on the route, one night in a standard desert camp with dinner and breakfast, a camel ride into the dunes, and the Ait Benhaddou and Todra Gorges stops.
